The new ASTAC training centre at Shoreham (Brighton City) Airport is now open. The new centre has 12,000 square feet of training rooms, simulator rooms, recreation rooms, resource centre and language laboratories. There will also be an observation tower overlooking the airfield, specially designed to look like a control tower and provide tower training facilities for the students (Coming Febuary 2007). All student areas are wireless enabled giving you free and easy to use Internet access.
The Centre will be the main focus for ICAO training for international air traffic control delegates in the United Kingdom, and is fitted with new simulators and computer based learning facilities. Training contracts have already been secured for the new centre into 2010.
